Art Deco Sterling Silver Parrot Pendant with Paste

This is a beautifully crafted sterling silver pendant of two parrots in jungle foliage.  In a truncated rectangle outlined in a black enamel border two paste encrusted parrots frolic in the trees.  The workmanship of this piece is impressive, each paste stone is hand cut and either bead set or in a channel.  The open work of the design delineates branches, birds and tropical leaves. Ruby and emerald colored paste add a pop of color. Two 3mm pearls soften the composition and add a welcome roundness of form. There is delicate millegrain border that speaks of the labor that went into this piece. At the top the bale is set with seven tiny single cut diamonds is a nice finishing touch.

A true Art Deco design made in Germany where some of the finest paste stones were made. Stamped sterling on the back. The piece measures 2 1/4" including the bale and is 3/4" at the widest point. With the chain it weighs 12.3 grams.  The chain is 19 1/2" long.
