This 9 karat gold watch chain has all the bells and whistles. Made by John Grinsell & Sons around 1900 in Birmingham England. Trombone links alternate with a fettered knot link that is both complex and beautiful to look at. The chain is 17 3/4" long with 2mm gauge gold that forms the links. Each link is hallmarked 9.375 for 9 karat gold.
Closing with two dog clips in the back, this chain hangs beautifully as a necklace. The t-bar and spring ring can be worn in the front. The spring ring can easily accommodate charms or a pendant, shown here with a diamond horse shoe also available Kirsten's Corner.
The makers mark of JG&S can be found at the end of the dog clips and on some of the trombone links. The piece weighs 43 grams.
Great Victorian Watch Chain!
