9K Gold Edwardian Lavaliere with Ruby and Seed Pearls
A beautifully hand crafted Edwardian era teardrop-shaped lavaliere made of 9 karat gold, with 18 blue cast pearls of different sizes and a hanging ruby gemstone. The largest pearl hangs from the bottom of the lavaliere and measures 4mm by 2.9 mm. The pearl at the top of the bail measures 2.5 mm and the remaining 16 pearls have an average size of about 1.25 mm.
The central ruby hangs gracefully from a circular wreath design that has an alternating leaf pattern. It measures 4.25 mm. There are two tiny pears in each leaf pair. A gold circle encompasses another gold circle. It has a great symmetrical as well as organic design.
The pendant has a simple but very elegant Belle Epoque style, with wonderful pearl details and a singular oval shaped white pearl that hangs from the bottom of the pendant. The pendant measures 2 1/4 by 3/4 inch and hangs from the original bail. It weighs 2.5 grams.
The Edwardian period of jewelry from 1901 to 1915 was characterized by simple but romantic chains suspending lavalieres and pendant negligees with delicate details. There was increase in importance of the neckline, resulting a popularity in pieces of jewelry such as this one, simple for everyday wear, and at the same time very feminine.
A romantic piece of jewelry, a beautiful antique and a perfect gift for someone you love. The pictured chain is not included but is available through Kirsten's Corner along with an additional selection of chains.
