This is a lovely pair of Victorian era-inspired 14 karat bird earrings with a hanging tear-shaped diamond gemstone. These earrings are artisan quality, designed by the artist Cindy Kolodziejski of Kirsten's Corner. Cindy has extensive knowledge of antique jewelry and is inspired by Victorian era symbolism, craft and materials. These earrings are made inspired by the art and high quality craftsmanship of Victorian era jewelry. In Victorian era language, the swallow is a tender creature, known as the bird that mates for life, making this the quintessential symbol of eternal love. This very romantic pair of earrings are stylized in form, with the bird having long angel-like wings and a body of slender lines and curves. These earrings as designed by a contemporary jewelry designer take on this antique craft that valued symbolism as well as elegance.
The swallow's body measures approximately 3/4 of an inch by 1/2 inch in size. The diamond hanging from the mouth of the bird is set into a four prong open back, letting light shine through . The diamond hangs from the bird's mouth and with movement it sways, reflecting beams of light. The diamonds measure approximately 3.3 x 2.5mm and are a total of 1/3 of a carat in diamond weight. The diamonds are rose cut and SL1, slightly included with H/I in color. These diamonds have a beautiful faceted pear-or tear drop shape, making the gemstones appears to be a tear drops, a highly popular Victorian era sentimental motif. The earrings are pierced backs and hook safely to close.
