14K Gold Victorian Swallow Charm with Diamonds, Pearl and Ruby

$650.00
A lovely Victorian era Swallow charm, made in 14 karat yellow gold featuring a pearl, a ruby and tiny lively diamonds. The tiny swallow is known as the bird that mates for life, making this the quintessential symbol of eternal love.  In Victorian era language the swallow is a tender creature,  a favorite symbol of romance.  The bird is slender with long wings and a curving body. At center of the body is a milky pearl, the ruby cabochon makes up the eye of the bird. At the end of the tail is a tiny dark diamond, and on the wings are bright tiny diamonds, arranged in ascending order.  This charm can be worn on a charm bracelet, or chain of your choice. We have many available through the store. Pictured here is the charm on a spring ring and a chain; from the pictures one can see the bale existing on the swallow charm is quite generous, with an opening at almost 1/4 of an inch. The sparrow measures approximately 1 inch in size. Circa 1890.
