14K Gold Old Mine Cut Diamond Ring

$1,885

This is a stunning radiant Old Mine Cut diamond ring.  The central diamond is aprroximately 3/4 of a carat, it measures 5.8 mm. The stone has a lot of sparkle and is G/H in color with a VS11 clarity. It is a very lively stone. It is set in a 14 karat rose gold mount with eight prongs that securely hold in the diamond. The ring band is 5.7mm at its widest point narrowing around the back to 3.1mm and is a size 7 1/4 weighing 2.3 grams. Sizable.

This ring would make a great engagement ring or a ring that could be added with others to stack. A beautiful Victorian ring from the 1890s. Unmarked; tests to be 14 karat gold.

Old Mine Cut diamonds have a squarish shape with soft curved edges. These bulky proportions have a purpose – they were developed by the cutters so that the diamonds would sparkle under candlelight. Because old mine cut diamonds were cut by eye and hand, each diamond carries a unique charm – they often have uneven facets and an asymmetrical shape. Old mine cuts were popular during the 18th and 19th centuries.
