14K Gold Honeymoon Crescent Moon Pendant with Chain
This is a sweet 14 karat gold honeymoon motif crescent moon pendant. A thin sliver of a crescent moon is set with 21 split seed pearls. Extending top to bottom of the moon a flower with leaves emerges as if growing out of the moon. This is adorned with 22 seed pearls. It hangs from a bale on a 17" chain. In the Victorian Era the moon was a repeating symbol, the flower here represents the nectar, or the 'honey' part of the puzzle, thus honeymoon. A symbol of love and new beginnings. The combination of the flowers and the moon made these pieces the traditional gift from a man to his new wife on their honeymoon.
The moon measurement from the top of the bale to the bottom of the stem is 1 1/2" x 1 1/4" wide. It weighs including the chain 4.4 grams. The back of the noon is marked 14K as well as the clasp of the chain. It is is very good conditions with some replacements pearls evident.
