14K Gold Masonic Square and Compasses Pendant with Seed Pearls

Circa 1890’s, this 14k gold pendant contains the Freemasons symbol of a “G” inside of square and compasses. It is surrounded by a circular gold frame, and the square and compasses are adorned with seed pearls and turquoise, bead set into the 14k gold.

The freemasons are the world’s oldest fraternal organization that has been around since the Middle Ages and is still active today. Because of their secret rituals and symbolism, they are often thought of as a mysterious secret society. Though there is quite a bit of lore associated with the Freemasons, they are known for their benevolent causes.

The square and compasses is one of the most universally recognized Freemasons symbols. The square, a tool that allows for right angles and structurally sound buildings, is symbolic of morality. The compasses, used to draw perfect circles, is a symbol for drawing boundaries around desires in order to maintain the balance and moderation necessary for living a life of integrity. The “G” represents God, or the “Great Architect of the Universe,” as well as Geometry and the intricate design of all things.

The pendant is 3/4” across and weighs 2 grams. There are 14 tiny seed pearls and one larger 1.5mm pearl in the center cross. There are six 1.5mm turquoise beads. One of the beads has a tiny chip, which is barely noticeable, and since it’s original to the piece, we’ve left it as is.

The chain seen in the picture is not included, but is available on our website.

This beautiful pendant will bring symbolism and history—as well as fashion!—to your outfit.
