In the center of a shield, representing a family crest, is an intricately carved bird talon--perhaps the claw of a bird of prey. It is a striking and unusual image, carved into a dark, chocolatey brown agate. The intaglio is bezel set into a 14k gold band, shaped with elegant facets and angular planes. Circa the turn of the century, this is a great unisex ring with an interesting image.
The interior of the band contains a maker’s mark of a cross, as well as the initials EDG topped with a crown. The encircled oak leaf marks that this ring is Dutch. The face of the intaglio measures 1/2” x 5/8”. The ring weighs 7 grams.
