Sterling Silver Dance Chatelaine with Brooch and Three Appendages

$625.00
This sterling silver Victorian era dance chatelaine is a true gem! It features incredible silver detailing indicative of the era and allows the modern user to imagine another time. There is a broach that connects to three appendages, which include a powder box, a memo book (for recording dance partners) and a coin dispenser (paying for a carriage ride home). The overall piece is about 5" from top to bottom and weighs 1.5 troy oz.

The broach measures about 3/4" by 3/4" (at widest points) with a scrolling floral pattern that surrounds an amethyst cabochon stone (about 1/4" diameter). It is marked on the clips outside with an "F" (French & Franklin) and inside with "Sterling".

The broach suspends three chains and three different sterling silver appendages. One is a powder box (a little less than 1 1/2" diameter and 1/4" depth) with unidentified hallmark and monogrammed "AIR"; another is a Webster coin dispenser (about 1 3/4" diameter and 3/4" deep) and the last appendage is a Foster and Bailey memo book. There's an open cartouche on the memo book and coin holder that could be monogrammed.

Overall this piece is in very good condition. The coin holder shows a little wear having a couple of dents to the back. It dates to the 19th or early 20th century.
