This is a lovely star-shaped, bohemian garnet pendent or brooch. The design is a beautiful star-like pattern full of rose cut garnets that are a dark red, catching the light nicely. There is a total of 84 rose cut garnets of different sizes , making it a lovely pendant or brooch.
This piece dates back to the 1880s, and is made with garnet stones that are set in pinchbeck (rose gold tone). Pinchbeck is known as "garnet gold" and contains a small quantity of gold, acid testing to 4 karats. It's a stunning piece that's in excellent antique condition. Some garnets are nicked but no stones are missing. The piece measures 1 3/8" x 1 1/8". The clasp is in good working order and the bale attaches on the back of the brooch, allowing it to be worn as a pendant.
