Sterling Silver Blue Enamel Necklace with Cloisonné Clasp

$275.00

This is a stunning, vibrant blue enamel and sterling silver necklace with a delicate floral cloisonné clasp from the 1930s, China. Cloisonné is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects. The decoration is formed by adding compartments to the metal object by soldering or affixing silver or gold. These remain visible in the finished piece, separating the different compartments of the enamel or inlays, which are often of several colors.

This cloisonné clasp has an outline of a flower in silver, which acts as a reservoir for the melted enamel. It’s a beautiful adornment which can be worn at the front as the centerpiece of the necklace or placed at the back of the neck as a subtle detail.

The chain is handmade with joints soldered together piece by piece. The necklace weighs 16 grams and measures 24 1/2". This is a beautiful piece that will add a nice pop of color to your wardrobe!
