Victorian 14K Gold Graduated Fringe Necklace

$3,850.00

This 14k gold fringe necklace encapsulates the essence of romantic jewelry from the Victorian era. Graduated elongated drops topped with round spheres dangle from the 15” necklace. The gorgeous surface of the gold is what is known as a bloom finish--a technique used in the Victorian era to dip gold jewelry into acid to burn off all other metals near the gold’s surface. While this necklace is 14k gold, the outside layer is closer to 20k and gives off the warm buttery glow of a high karat gold. What we love about fringe necklaces is their lovely movement that catches the light so beautifully.

The necklace measures 15”, and the drops range in size from 7/8” to 1/2”. The piece weighs 20.5 grams. It is in near perfect condition, with a barrel clasp at the top. Unmarked but acid tests as 14k gold.

Circa 1890 - 1900.
