Ronald Hayes Pearson 14K Gold Modernist Fish Pendant

$950.00

Ronald Hayes Pearson (1924 -96) was an influential figure in metalsmithing and modern jewelry. He regarded precious metals as plastic substances to be stretched or elongated into simple, elegant forms. This 14k gold fish pendant clearly reflects that philosophy. The clean, curved lines end in flowing points that delineate the fish's form, suggesting a skeletal outline in beautiful poetry.  The pendant measures 5/8" wide x 2 3/4" long. It is marked Pearson and 14K on the back and weighs 5 grams.

Pearson's modernist and abstract jewelry designs signify the vintage, retro, mid-century modern, and expressionistic forms of jewelry and accessories that evolved during the 1950s-1970s. He was a founding member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths. He taught jewelry making at leading craft schools and designed flatware for major silver companies.
